Peeling

When we talk about peeling we are talking about a treatment that is used to exfoliate the skin and removes imperfections from the face and / or body. In short, a real anti-aging treatment. To date, this treatment is one of the most widespread in aesthetic medicine, because it is minimally invasive, fast, without particular contraindications and suitable for women and men of all ages. But what do peelings consist of? They are medical-aesthetic treatments characterized by the presence, in their composition, of a single acid or an association of acids (the most common are: glycolic, citric, mandelic, lactic, salicylic and trichloroacetic). This treatment helps to artificially accelerate a natural process of our dermis, namely cell turnover, which occurs as a result of the removal of older cells. We can therefore define it as an “exfoliating” treatment. Usually peelings act on the surface layer of our skin (the epidermis), but in some cases, depending on the type of peeling and the acid base that composes it, they can also act at a deeper level. The doctor will choose the type of peeling to be used depending on the patient’s skin type and the results you want to achieve. Also remember that peelings can also be used to treat acne, stretch marks, scarring and skin spots. The treatment involves a first phase in which the skin is thoroughly cleansed, then the peeling chosen by our doctor is applied, the necessary laying time is waited and finally, with an appropriate product, the chemical agent is neutralized. The procedure is really simple and fast (the duration is about 30 minutes).
The peeling treatment is normally performed every 3 weeks and requires only a precaution: avoid exposure to the sun in 10/15 days after performing it.
